Qerimaj: In the first test I resulted negative, next target winning Olympic medals

Accident in Himara, doctor Nikollari: Student to leave hospital next week

Clinician Luan Nikollari said in a press conference that the transport to Austria of the two students has been carried out successfully. According to Nikollari, Florije Peci and Eriselda Gubere will undergo first analyses in Vienna.  Nikollari added that they are still in severe conditions but under the care of specialized medical staff.  Students injured in the tragic accident in Himara are being treated at the Military Hospital are to leave the hospital next week. The fact was confirmed by Nikollari who revealed that the health of the girls is improved. Six of them was hospitalized in Himara and have left the hospital. Kaltra Pollozhani is in the surgery room at the Military Hospital under the supervision of the medical staff.

Blatter: Penalty shoot-outs are unfair

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has stated that soccer can be a "tragedy" when a match is decided by a penalty shoot-out, goal.com reports. Blatter believes that soccer's true nature is lost when a match is decided by penalties, and hinted that other options will be explored in the future.

Tirana – Dead body found alongside the free way

A dead body was found on Friday by the Tirana Police alongside the Tirana-Durresi free way. Sources at the police say that the dead body was thrown into the canal near Vora and is supposed to have passed away in the early hours of Friday. The victim is supposed to be Rizvan Peposhi. The police first suspected that the victim died after being crashed by a car which left the spot immediately.

An accident at the Muriqani border crossing near the Albania – Montenegro border has claimed the life of 50 year old man from Shkodra Gjin Kakia as the latter crashed with his car against the vehicle of a construction company as it was operating in the road axis. Kakia was driving his way to Montenegro. The investigation group started the investigation to foil the incident.

UK police seize record number of counterfeit coins amounting to 4 million pounds

Scotland Yard says it has seized a record number of counterfeit coins in raids on three properties outside of London. The police force says that it recovered more than 4 million pounds ($6.3 million) worth of fake coinage from a freight container during Wednesday's swoop. In a statement released Thursday, the force said that three men, ages 52, 43 and 27, had been arrested in connection with the find. It did not name the men. The statement says the seizure is thought to be the biggest-ever recovery of bogus coins in Britain. Police are still hunting for the press that made the counterfeit currency.

Kukesi - Water levels jump up, 30 families in total isolation

30 families have found themselves isolated in the village Perbreg of the Terthore commune in the district of Kukesi as a result of water level going up at the Fireza lake. The residents of Kovac neighborhood report that the water has reached a three meter level.


“A group was set up to verify the situation. Reporters say that this happens every year at the same period. Greece confirms election date on June 17

Greece confirmed on Saturday that it would a hold a repeat general election on June 17, after party leaders failed to form a coalition government following an inconclusive election.

“We are calling a general election for June 17. The new parliament will convene on June 28, Thursday,” said a statement from the parliament’s press office.

The statement said President Karolos Papoulias had dissolved the parliament elected on May 6, two days after it was convened. The date of the new election was released last week but was not official until Papoulias issued Saturday’s decree.

Brindisi - One dead, seven injured in school blast

One 16-year-old girl died Saturday after a powerful bomb blast outside their school in the southern Italian city of Brindisi, with another seven injured, one critically. School officials said the blast, which went off as the students were arriving for class at the all-girls Francesca Morvillo Falcone vocational school, knocked several of them to the ground. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast caused by gas canisters hidden in a container or backpacks placed near a wall of the school grounds, according to initial indications.

UN Ban Ki Moon: Al Qaeda behind attacks in Syria

UN leader Ban Ki-moon said Thursday he believes al Qaeda committed a major bomb attack in Damascus that left dozens dead, and that up to 10,000 people have now been killed in Syria. Ban said President Bashar al-Assad has still not implemented a peace plan agreed with UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.

Kosovo – Naim Huruglica and Lulzim Rafuna exonerated

The EULEX court has exonerated the Director General of Kosovo Custom House Huruglica and the Director of the Legal Department Rufuna accused of allowing additional imports of tobacco in Kosovo to cross the legal import limits for 2008.


“The decision to allow additional imports of tobacco was allegedly influenced by political factors contrary to any legal logic. That allowed the companies to import tobacco on a lower level of excise thus inflicting financial losses amounting to 5.000.00 Euros to the budget of Kosovo. The court exonerated Huruglica and Rafuna after none of the accused was proved to have committed the act they were chard with”, EULEX communique stated. The EULEX prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo has announced he will file a complaint on the matter.

Kuci: Kosovo interested in a stable Macedonia

In a vistit to Tetovo, the Deputy PM of Kosovo, Hajerdin Kuci declared that Kosovo is interested that Macedonia be a stable state. “Kosovo is interested that the Republic of Macedonia is a functional, democratic state which respects the rights of its citizens, the Ohrid agreement and its international obligations”, said Kuci.
